Artist Statement
‘EcologyNOW’ challenges the position of humans at the top of the classic evolution chain. Ink drawings depict utopian scenes across Brazil where animals take centre stage and where the wild crosses over into the domestic - the caterpillar transforming into a colourful butterfly. It is the result of a three-way Sci/Art collaboration between University of Birmingham plastics scientists, the Lapworth Museum and the artist, Pamela Schilderman.
