I work with oil on canvas by exploring several issues that are dear to me. I do portraits, landscape, still life and figures. My inspirations are from scenes witnessed around me. With eyes on great deal of fine detail or complexity, my style is fit to convey the most intricate scene to the understanding with the utmost clearness.

He attended The Polytechnic Ibadan and bagged National Diploma (ND) in Art and Design and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fine and Applied Art. Bottom Left to Right: The Empress, 2021; Lioness Spirit, 2021

Artist Ohso Fabone is a self-taught, mixed media artist, born & raised in New Orleans, LA!

She primarily paints imaginative, 3-D composition portraits of Women of Color with "Living Waters" as a prominent, recurring biblical metaphor. Water in her work represents purification, spiritual need, & eternal life.

Many pieces feature women with "Flowing Tresses" sculptured onto the canvas.

I view the hair as the "Crown and Glory" of a woman and in early African civilizations as well as some communities today, black hairstyles indicate social status, tribe, family background, makes political statements, used as a source of empowerment, and act as a conduit for spiritual interaction to God.

Other recurring elements in Ohso's work are West African Adinkra Symbols.

Adinkra literally translates to "goodbye, or farewell". The abstract symbols are often linked with proverbs, so in my paintings, they visually express particular attitudes and convey more meaning than a single written word."

Ohso medium of choice is acrylic but she often incorporates airbrush, celluclay, ink, pastels, glass beads & watercolor. Ohso attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts – N.O.C.C.A. She studied psychology & fine art at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA. Ohso later received a degree in Computer Graphic Design from Southeast College of Technology in Metairie, LA and was inducted into the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society in 1999. She worked as a Freelance Art Educator & Graphic Designer until hurricanes Katrina & Rita destroyed her home in 2005 forcing her family to relocate to Texas. Ohso is an international artist actively exhibiting in the US and abroad.
